ESPERSAN

HESAR BISHEH

Gérard Viel

Mixed oriental music

The trio Espersan was born in 2016 with an artistic project that goes from the French culture to the Iranian one. Languid oriental sounds, sometimes haunting but melodic with a subtle mix of voices and traditional instruments: Babak Rajabi (singing and traditional lute from Iran - the Târ), Thomas Gutehrlé (microtonal guitar, backing vocals), Pierre Boutelant (derbouka, cajon, davul, donkey jaw, goat hooves, backing vocals). In the manner of troubadours, these three personalities share their cultural differences and offer us a luminous music, full of emotion and sensuality. The title of the album Hezar Bisheh "A Thousand Forests" refers to a collection of stories by the unavoidable Mullah Nasreddin, a cult figure from the Middle East to the Maghreb, who represents a spirituality through stories that are sometimes naive, sometimes wise or sometimes absurd. A beautiful, simple, sincere and warm album.
