Mes Souliers sont rouges, back to the roots

An album with a red and luminous visual for the 7th opus of the mythical Norman band Mes Souliers sont Rouges has just arrived on the planet earth. Twenty-five years ago, when this cheerful band of musicians was created, their songs mainly referred to our friends in Quebec: La Bottine Souriante, Le Rêve du Diable etc ...... The years have passed and the musicians have changed and looked for different sources of music. inspiration to refocus on the musical heritage of Normandy via the excellent collection work of the association La Loure. For decades, very few musicians from Normandy have relied on this repertoire ... preferring to look to Brittany, Quebec or the Celtic countries. A first project was born in 2018 with Les Bons Voisins Norman Pur Jus, (Manu Savinelli and Guillaume Hugot) a 100% Norman album with Irish folk music influences, merging with the rhythms of Quebec, jazz-swing, country-Cajun see sometimes rock. The new team of Mes Souliers sont Rouges led by Gullivan and Deny Lefrançois team-mates since its creation has called on other friends from their region: Simon Leterrier (accordion), Jacky Beaucé (uilleann pipes-flute) and a Breton guitarist (nobody is perfect !!) Eflamm Labeyrie specialist of "open tuning". We find on this new album the brand image of My Souls: dynamism, festive, vocal polyphony, podorythmie, and instrumental that would not deny "the reality of the hanged! ". This album is a beautiful tribute to passionate collectors of La Loure who since 1988 visit all of Normandy to find songs buried in memories: the Wild Sea, the Barbiere, Camel Hair, the priest of Argentan, Plums and other adventures speaking of the social life of Normandy. A nice nod to the work of another great collector Alan Lomax via Robert Bouthiller (ethnomusicologist of the Franco-American repertoire) with the beautiful song "No that I like it" opens this warm album, "which binds us". This disc shows the passion of all musicians and singers who have been fighting for years to make the cultural heritage of all Europe alive.Beautiful work of sound recording and arrangements finely chiseled and open to different musical universes, give this album the desire to listen to it with friends and to let the good time roll.
