THE GOTHARD SISTERS
Dragonfly
Greta, Willow and Solana Gothard hail from the Pacific North Coast of the United States and have been playing together since 2006 under the name The Gothard Sisters. They have released over ten albums and performed in over 1,000 concerts throughout the United States in the course of their careers.
All three began studying the violin at an early age and have since added other strings to their bow as they also play the guitar, piano, mandolin, bodhrán and sing together, although the leader is Solana.
All three of them are lovers of Celtic music and more particularly of Irish music, and they like to describe their music as contemporary Celtic folk.
Their brand new album, Dragonfly, is one of the most authentic and brings to life a unique sound enhanced by messages of independence and freedom. All the tunes and songs were written and arranged by this friendly trio.
Twelve tracks in all, six instrumentals and six songs in equal measure. Chasing the Sun, which opens the album with a catchy instrumental, immediately sets the tone, a positive energy carried by very danceable harmonies, which highlight their airy voices.
The songs deal with themes of the search for wisdom, Wise One, adventure, Dragonfly, and the power of music on Shadow and Sun and Long Road.
Gothard is an old English surname meaning 'good and hard'. And we can say that this name suits them very well as their music is so excellent.
