VIDALA
Cantando al sol
Gérard Viel
songs from South America
A dive into the heart of a musical heritage that is too often forgotten from the 1960s to the 1980s, a time when the so-called "committed song" resounded in the streets, at demonstrations and on certain radio stations. This is the music of Latin America represented at that time by the emblematic artists Violeta Parra, María Elena Walsh, Chabuca Granda, Mercedes Sosa, Víctor Jara, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Léon Gieco, the Quilapayún and many others. The four musicians of Vidala (Séverine Soulayres, Raphaèle Frey-Maibach, Christophe Jacques, Baptiste Romano) present us with a new warm album, on themes of commitment, solidarity, fraternity, sensuality and around the place of women in the fight for fundamental rights. They draw their repertoire from tradition and add a contemporary touch with refined and subtle arrangements, favouring voices and acoustic sounds. Séverine's sensual voice is beautifully supported by strings and choirs. An album to listen to so as not to forget the struggles of all the peoples of the world.
