Based in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the Appalachian Mountains, and more specifically in Virginia, Julie and Josh Kinn are the descendants of Scottish immigrants. Husband and wife, in 2018 they founded the duo Kinnfolk.

The band Danú was formed in 1995 after a group of musicians got together to play at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient. Since then, their career has continued to evolve, with musicians and singers joining and leaving the band.
