The Irish and Scottish diaspora has had a strong presence in Canada since the 19th century. And of course they've brought their music with them. Another Celtic band from the New World, Old Man Flanagan's Ghost, hail from Toronto.

Originally from County Mayo in the west of Ireland, David Munnelly was brought up in a family very involved in music. His grandmother taught him traditional music, in particular the diatonic accordion and the melodeon.

Six years ago the album Allt was released, recorded by Scottish singer and musician Julie Fowlis and Irish fiddler and singer Zoë Conway, themselves accompanied by their respective husbands, Éamon Doorley and John McIntyre. Since then, the quartet has continued to collaborate from time to time.

A little less traditional, though, comes Chongie Road from uilleann piper Seánie Ó'Loingsigh (Seán Lynch in the English version).
