The Blazin' Fiddles adventure began in 1998. As part of the Year of Highland Culture, several fiddlers got together for a unique five-day tour to present the different fiddle styles of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. They were so enthusiastically received by the public that they soon decided to continue the adventure.

And two, almost in quick succession. A few months ago I introduced you to the debut album by Diarmuid Ó Meachair, the young virtuoso accordionist from County Cork, winner of the 2022 Young Musician of the Year award. Well, a few months later he's back at it again with Melodeon Meddleys.

These two met in 2013 at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow and have been playing together informally for ten years. Yet after a decade they decided to combine their talents on a debut duo album.

Sean-nós, literally old style, is a traditional way of singing Irish, usually unaccompanied. It's a style that reflects the way these songs are usually performed in community and informal contexts.
