Although formed in 1983, Buttons & Bows are not very prolific in terms of albums, since The Return of Spring is only their fourth in their forty-year career. It must be said that they waited almost twenty-five years between the previous album and this latest one.

We left Karan Casey in 2018 with the excellent album Hieroglyphs that tell the tale. The Cork singer is back in early 2023 with a superb album Nine Apples of Gold, her ninth release.

Waterford is said to be the oldest town in Ireland. The music and folk scene here is thriving and the ghost of the famous folk-singer Liam Clancy, who lived here, is never far away.

Although the Christmas season has passed, winter is still here and it is a seasonal album that I present to you here. This is the album of the Irish-American-Canadian band Runa, which I have already written about on this site and in Trad Magazine.
